Sign in & account basics

Signing in

Skilladder uses email and password for sign-in. Users need an account created beforehand — either through a team invite, an enterprise invite, or a direct account setup by an admin.

Sign-in page: /signin

After accepting an invite or verifying an email for the first time, you may notice a verification-related parameter in the URL. This is expected — it confirms the email verification completed successfully.

Skilladder does not have a traditional "set a new password" reset flow. Instead, clicking Forgot password? on the sign-in page sends the user a magic link — a one-time sign-in link emailed to them that expires in 15 minutes. Clicking it signs them in directly with no password required.

What happens after using a magic link: Skilladder moves the account to magic link sign-in going forward. The user won't need a password anymore — they request a fresh magic link each time they sign in.

The sign-in page also has a dedicated Sign in with magic link button (below the password form) that does the same thing.

:::tip Common scenario

A user accepted a team invite, set a password, and then forgot it. Direct them to click Forgot password? on the sign-in page — they'll get a magic link email and can sign in straight away without needing to remember a password.

Account settings

Users access their account settings from the profile dropdown in the top navigation (usually the top-right corner).

Account settings contain:

  1. Profile — name, contact details, and any personal information fields
  2. Team tab (primary company admins and delegated staff only) — manage team members and their permissions
