Assessment invites
When a company administrator sends an assessment invite, the candidate receives an email with a unique link. That link takes them to the assessment's landing page — separate from the main Skilladder sign-in page.
What candidates see when they open the link
The landing page shows the assessment name and a brief description. From there, the candidate has two options:
| Option | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Sign Up | First time on Skilladder — creates an account linked to the invite |
| Sign In | Already has a Skilladder account — signs in and connects to the assessment |
Always direct first-time candidates through Sign Up on the invite page, not through the main Skilladder homepage. The invite link sets up the right context for the assessment automatically.
Common issues and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Invite invalid", "expired", or "disabled" banner | The company revoked the assessment, or the invite link has expired | Ask the company admin to check the assessment status and resend the invite if needed |
| Email mismatch message | The candidate is signed in to Skilladder under a different email than the one the invite was sent to | Ask them to sign out completely, then reopen the original invite link |
| Candidate can't find the invite email | Caught in spam, or the email used was a group alias that filters links | Have the admin resend to a direct address; confirm the correct email was entered when sending |
For CS escalations
If a candidate issue doesn't resolve with the steps above, collect the following before escalating to #producttech_cooking:
- The invite link (with personal details removed if needed)
- The email address the invite was sent to
- The error message the candidate saw and approximately when
