Upload an assessment via CSV
Goal: Bulk-import an assessment from a prepared CSV spreadsheet.
Who can do this: Platform administrators and Directory administrators only. All other roles see Access restricted when they try to access this page. If a customer needs to create an assessment, direct them to the AI wizard or JD flow instead.
Before you start
- You must have the CSV file ready, formatted to the Skilladder template. Do not invent column names — use the template your CS or implementation team provides.
- If you are unsure about the correct format, confirm with the implementation team before uploading.
Steps
- Go to Assessments in the sidebar and click Upload assessment (when visible), or navigate directly to
/assessments/upload. - Metadata screen — fill in the assessment title and programme metadata as prompted.
- CSV Upload screen — attach your file and wait for the validation output. Fix any errors flagged before continuing.
- Preview screen — review the parsed questions to confirm the import looks correct.
- Click the final confirmation button to commit the assessment package.
After the import
- Find the new assessment in the Assessments list.
- Open the assessment detail to adjust settings or add question bank content.
- If you see validation errors mentioning skill codes or levels, fix the source CSV and re-upload.
What happens next
- Question bank — use in an assessment — enrich the imported assessment with curated bank questions
- Preview an assessment — review the assessment before sharing it
