Review assessment results

Goal: See a candidate's score, session history, and outcomes after they complete an assessment.

Who can do this: Company administrators, Platform admins, Directory admins, and company staff with the View results & analytics permission. Staff viewer roles can browse but cannot export. Talent and Candidate roles cannot access results for other participants.

Before you start

  • The candidate must have completed an assessment — results only appear after submission. Pending or in-progress attempts are not shown.
  • If you're expecting results and don't see them, check whether the candidate actually finished (see Troubleshooting below).

Option A — Review from the Candidates directory

Use this when you want to find a specific person and see everything they've completed.

  1. Click Candidates in the sidebar.
  2. Search or filter to find the candidate.
  3. Click their row to open their profile at /candidates/[candidate-id].
  4. Review their completed sessions, scores, and any evidence flags or role recommendation signals shown on the profile.

Option B — Review from the assessment detail

Use this when you want to see all candidates who completed a specific assessment.

  1. Click Assessments in the sidebar.
  2. Find the assessment and click its title to open the detail page.
  3. Navigate to the Sessions or Results tab (label depends on the release).
  4. Browse the list of completions — you can see scores, completion dates, and status for each participant.
  5. Click a row to drill into an individual candidate's result.

Export results

If you need to share results outside of Skilladder:

  1. From the assessment detail or the Assessments list, click the Export button.
  2. If you clicked Export from the Assessments list (all assessments), you will be prompted to optionally select specific assessments — leave the picker empty to export everything in scope.
  3. Choose format (CSV or XLSX) and confirm. The file is emailed to you — large exports may take a minute.
  4. If the Export button is not visible, you do not have the View results & analytics permission — ask your administrator.

The exported file includes one row per candidate attempt. The Avg Score (%) column shows the candidate's average across all their attempts on that assessment, alongside the individual Total Score (%) for each row.

:::caution Do not promise exports before verifying

Always confirm the Export button is visible in your account before telling a customer their results can be downloaded. Permissions and feature flags control this — it's not universal.

Close an assessment

If you need to immediately stop all new candidate access to a live assessment:

  1. Open the assessment and go to the Settings tab.
  2. Scroll to the Danger Zone section at the bottom.
  3. Click Close Assessment and confirm in the dialog.

This sets the deadline to yesterday, blocking new access immediately. Candidates already mid-session are not interrupted. You can re-open the assessment at any time by clearing or extending the deadline in Publishing Settings.

What happens next

After reviewing results:

Common issues

ProblemWhat to check
Results tab is missing or emptyThe candidate may not have submitted yet — check if their session is still in progress
Export button is not visibleYour account doesn't have the View results & analytics permission — ask your administrator
Can't find the candidate in the directoryTiming: candidates appear after they have authenticated and started an assessment. Check whether the invite was opened and whether they've signed up
Directory admin sees no Candidates menuThis is by design — Directory admins manage content, not hiring operations. They do not have access to the candidates directory
