Create a public preview link
Goal: Generate a shareable link that lets an external stakeholder (e.g. a hiring manager or client) review an assessment without needing a Skilladder account.
Who can do this: Anyone with edit access on the assessment. If the Public preview or Share button is missing, ask a Platform admin or company admin to grant you edit rights.
Before you start
- Generating a new link automatically revokes any previously active link for the same assessment. Warn anyone currently reviewing an older link before you regenerate.
- Links expire after approximately 7 days — the exact expiry timestamp is shown when you generate the link.
Steps
- Open the assessment at
/assessments/[assessment-id]. - Find and click the Public preview or Share button. This opens the preview link dialog.
- Click Generate to create a new link.
- Wait for the link and its expiry date to appear.
- Click Copy link and send it via email or your preferred channel.
- Warn the recipient to open the full URL including the
?token=part — a truncated URL won't work.
To cancel a link before it expires, click Revoke inside the same dialog.
Renewing expired links
After a review cycle or when a link has expired, open the dialog and generate a new one. Remind your contacts not to reuse old email threads with the previous URL.
