Create an assessment from a job description
Goal: Turn a job description into a structured assessment configuration using the JD intake flow.
Who can do this: Company administrators, Platform admins, Directory admins, and company staff with the Create assessments permission. Talent, Candidate, and Staff viewer roles cannot access this flow.
Before you start
- Have your job description text ready to paste. A minimum length is required — very short input will be rejected.
- If you are a portfolio operator (Platform or Directory admin) deploying to a specific company, confirm the target company before starting.
Steps
- From the Assessments list, look for the Create from job description entry point — it may appear as a button with a sparkle or JD icon. Alternatively, go directly to
/create-assessment. - If a Company dropdown appears, select the target tenant you're creating this assessment for.
- Paste your job description text into the large text area.
- Work through the structured sections that appear:
- Foundational skills — core competencies the role always needs
- Hard skills — specific technical or functional skills
- Soft skills — behavioural and interpersonal competencies
- Values — cultural or organisational fit criteria
- Review and adjust the pre-filled fields — the intake flow suggests values but you should verify they match the role.
- Click Create (or the equivalent primary button at the bottom).
- On success, you are redirected to either the assessment detail page or the requests list, depending on your role.
What happens next
- Operators should track the submission via the Assessment requests queue.
- If the assessment was created directly, continue from Review assessment results once candidates complete it.
