Terms we use internally
Words below match behaviour in Skilladder itself. Labels on screen always win.
| Term | Meaning in everyday language |
|---|---|
| Candidate / Talent | Someone taking assessments or using the candidate-facing experience. Sidebar is usually narrower (for example Dashboard and Skill Profile, not internal admin tooling). |
| Company administrator | Runs day-to-day work for their organisation inside Skilladder: assessments, templates, candidates, exports, and account settings. |
| Company staff | Extra teammates at a company whose fine-grained permissions can toggle specific abilities (creating assessments or templates, viewing taxonomy, exporting, etc.). |
| Platform administrator | Broad internal-style access across Skilladder operational tasks and configuration — including tools other roles never see. |
| Directory administrator (“Content admin”) | Focused on content: assessments library, templates, and skills taxonomy (skills, roles, job families). The home screen says Content admin and directs you away from treating it like everyday company dashboards. |
| Multi‑company administrator (MCA) | Works across many client organisations (“portfolio” context): Companies list, cross-company dashboards, deploying templates across companies — subject to Skilladder policies. |
| Assessment invite | A participant link that carries assessment context (/invites/...). Signing up vs signing in from that page behaves differently than the generic signup page — using the invite link matters. |
| Template vs live assessment | A template is a reusable blueprint. A live assessment is something you distribute, preview, attach sessions to, and report on — concrete instance in operation. |
| Question Bank | Shared catalogue of tagged assessment items (draft → review → live → retired) used to keep quality and reuse high. Operators (Platform + Directory) curate; many other roles browse or insert into assessments. See Question Bank. |
| Item Analysis (CTT) | Question Bank tab showing psychometric difficulty (p-value), discrimination (D-index), and automated verdicts from real candidate responses. See Item Analysis how-to. |
| p-value (difficulty index) | Proportion of candidates who answered correctly on an item—used to spot items that are too easy or too hard. |
| D-index (discrimination) | How well an item separates stronger vs weaker performers—low or negative values often trigger review. |
| Item verdict | Automated recommendation on Item Analysis (e.g. Bank It, Review, Remove) to prioritise content fixes. |
| Team invite | Adds someone to a company’s Skilladder roster via /team-invite/... — usually sent by the primary company admin. |
| Enterprise invite | Contract-style onboarding link /enterprise-invites/... for designated enterprise contacts — different templates and expiry posture than day-to-day team invites. |
| Staff viewer | A read-oriented company staff role for auditors or observers who need visibility into assessments and candidates without the ability to make changes. See Capabilities matrix. |
