FAQ

A colleague can see a sidebar menu I can't — is something broken?

Almost always a permissions difference, not a bug. Different roles see different menus, and company staff access can be fine-tuned per person.

Post in #producttech_cooking with your email address and the name of the menu you're expecting to see. The team can check what role your account has been set up with.

What's the difference between a template and an assessment?

A template is a reusable blueprint — the starting structure of an assessment without a live audience attached.

A live assessment is what gets distributed to candidates: it has sessions, records results, and can be exported.

Think of the template as the master copy, and the live assessment as a deployed instance of it.

The Export button has disappeared / I can no longer see it

The Export button is only visible to users with the View results & analytics permission. It is never shown universally — if it's disappeared for someone, either their permission was changed or they're viewing a different account than expected.

Ask the primary company admin to check Account Settings → Team → Edit access for that person.

Why does the Directory admin's homepage look completely different from a regular admin's?

Directory admins have a Content admin view by design. Their dashboard focuses on assessment content and the skills taxonomy, not day-to-day company hiring metrics.

Their homepage will say Content admin at the top — this confirms you're looking at a Directory admin account, not a misconfigured company admin.
